IVSA Members' Code of Conduct:

As a member of the Import Vintners and Spirits Association, it is recognized that our business interacts with many groups including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Other import agencies
  • Associate Members
  • General public
  • Retail and Hospitality Customers
  • Suppliers
  • The BC government and its agencies, namely the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, BC Liquor Stores and the BC Liquor Control & Licensing Branch
  • The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission
  • Warehouse & Distribution Businesses

As members, we subscribe to the following code of standards set by the Import Vintners and Spirits Association in conducting our business affairs with these identified groups as follows:

WITH OTHER IMPORT AGENCIES
To refrain from the use of unethical competitive practices. To acknowledge that, as a member of a trade association, fostering goodwill and co-operation is a benefit to all.

WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC
We consider our profession worthy, involving a high degree of responsibility to the public. We advocate the principle of the responsible use of alcohol.

WITH OUR CUSTOMERS
To serve our customers with honesty and integrity. To market our products on their merit.

WITH SUPPLIERS
We seek to treat those who supply us goods and services with honesty and integrity.

WITH GOVERNMENTS
We seek to be treated fairly by government and its agencies, recognizing that the import beverage alcohol industry is a significant economic and revenue contributor to the Provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Canada. We seek to collaborate with government and its agencies to develop policies and practices that will lead to mutual benefits for import agents, suppliers, the government and consumers.
