Brewery Van Eecke is a family Belgian family brewery since 1624, located in watou, the heart of the Belgian hop fields, near Poperinge and Ypres, the historic WWI site better known as Flanders Fields.
For almost 4 centuries we have had a solid reputation in brewing top fermented Abby style Ales under the name of Kapittel Watou.
In 1981 we created our famous Poperings Hommelbier: only brewing with the aromatic hops from poperinge.(Hommel is our local dialect foe the female hop flower) this exceptional and easy hopped ale has been world wide rewarded with several golden awards, and is our signature Ale.
Watou's witbeir, is our wheat styled ale that was awarded with a gold metal in the concour international of Montreal 1998.
